Sonia McDonald, founder of McDonald Inc. has always had a passion for the women in leadership space, is a regular speaker for IWD events and is always celebrating and supporting women in their careers and life.
With this passion, she has launched new leadership programs with McDonald Inc. to help encourage, empower and celebrate women and build a foundation of courageous, kind and authentic leaders.
When Sonia was researching this space, she was sadly not surprised to see the statistics around how underrepresented women are in leadership roles in most industries across Australia. Although women make up half of the private sector workforce, only 32.5% are in key management positions, 28.1% are directors, 18.3% are CEOs and 14.6% are board chairs.
Sonia and her team at McDonald Inc. are on a mission to change these statistics, and lead 1 million women to have courage to step in, step up and start up. Through a compelling need, McDonald Inc. has the solutions and is taking womens leadership to the next level.
“I want to support women who need advice, skills, training and coaching to get a job, gain skills for the future of work, start a business and get that seat at the table” says Sonia. I am helping corporates embrace attracting and developing women and getting women into male dominated industries. Because we don’t see many women leaders nowadays and this need is urgent”
Sonia believes the way the best way to create change is to focus on kindness, courage and inclusiveness, and we look to women like Jacinta Ardern and her kindness as inspiration for this change.
